A meeting is set to take place on December 18 at the Ministry of Sports between Prof. Narcisse Mouelle Kombi and club presidents. The objective of the said gathering will be to address concerns of club presidents engaged in Elite One and Elite Two, who do not want the state subsidy for the organization of the 2024/2025 championship to pass through the FECAFOOT. All this stems from when the President of the Cameroonian Football Federation approached the Presidency of the Republic requesting an aid amounting to 360 million CFA francs of which it appears that the State has decided to assist the federation with 350 million.
The current issue at hand is : to whom will the money be paid? To the federation or directly to the clubs through the Cameroon Football Federation? It is important to note that the Prime Minister, through a communiqué signed on December 4, 2024, instructed the Minister of Finance to disburse the said amount to the Cameroonian Football Federation. At the same time, the Minister of State, Secretary-General of the Presidency of the Republic, has requested the Minister of Sports and Physical Education, who oversees affairs of the FECAFOOT, to submit a report to the Presidency on consultations with Cameroonian football stakeholders regarding this subsidy. A situation that might likely trigger another episode in the lingering feud between FECAFOOT and the Ministry of Sports over the management of Cameroonian football.
