Cameroon: Renowned Journalist Lambert Ngouanfo Passes On

Lambert Ngouanfo, a distinguished journalist and cameraman in Cameroon’s audiovisual industry, passed away during the night of Tuesday, December 17, to Wednesday, December 18, 2024. A former journalist at TV Max and AFP TV, he was known for his professionalism and commitment to his craft.

Lambert Ngouanfo is no more! The journalist and cameraman, recognized for his professionalism, succumbed to his illness on the night of December 18, 2024. An alumnus of Mbouda High School and a graduate of ESSTIC, he made his mark in  Cameroon’s audiovisual sector with high-quality reports for media outlets like TV Max and Agence France-Presse TV.

 

His untimely death is a significant loss to Cameroonian journalism, affecting both his colleagues and the public who admired his work.

 

On social media, journalist Nana Paul Sabin from Equinoxe expressed profound sadness while announcing his death.

“It is with great sadness that I learn of the passing of Lambert Ngouanfo, one of the pioneers of private television in Cameroon. The journalist and cameraman kicked the bucket during the night of Tuesday to Wednesday, December 18, 2024, after a long illness.

An alumnus of Mbouda High School and a graduate of Esstic, the Yaoundé School of Journalism, Lambert Ngouanfo was a field journalist who worked for TV Max, Agence France-Presse TV, and more. He was appreciated for his professionalism and dedication.

 

In 2015, he shared his joy in becoming a correspondent for Agence France-Presse TV in Cameroon:

‘Hello everyone! I wish you an excellent week. I would also like to let you know that since January 1, 2015, I have been the correspondent for Agence France-Presse TV in Cameroon. You’ve seen my reports on TV5 Monde, France 24, and other channels. Now, thanks to AFP TV, my reports will be broadcasted on several television channels worldwide and in various languages. I thank the Lord for being in control of my professional life. Best wishes. Lambert.’

A member of the first generation of journalists in Cameroon’s private television industry, his premature departure in the prime of his life, has left me in shock.

 

I extend my condolences to his wife Nadine and their children, praying that God grants them the strength and comfort needed during this time of mourning.
