The National Union of Cameroonian Football (Synafoc) is backing up the club president regarding their demands. The union headed by Geremi Sorel Njitap, endorses the presidents movement urging the state to transfer funds allocated for the 2024/2025 championship directly into their accounts, bypassing the Cameroon Football Federation (Fecafoot). The clubs claim that the federation lacks transparency in managing the subsidies to which some presidents stated they have received nothing or only a third of what they were supposed to receive.
Synafoc on its part agrees that the government should take charge to ensure clubs receive the full amount of their funds. Yesterday, Wednesday, Minister Narcisse Mouelle Kombi held a meeting with seven club representatives, in the absence of the president of the Association of Elite Clubs of Cameroon, who was initially expected to attend. Despite this absence, Mouelle Kombi and the present club representatives reached a mutual agreement in principle that the funds should no longer pass through the Fecafoot.
This initiative was well applauded by the Synafoc, who advocates that organization of championship is to be entrusted to the Professional Football League, which has not existed since 2022 and therefore needs to be reinstated. The National Union of Professional Football Players of Cameroon is also calling on the clubs to provide the state with an account of how the subsidy is used.
