Cameroon has taken a significant step toward qualifying for the 2024 African Nations Championship. The Indomitable Lions defeated the Central African Republic with a narrow 1-0 win at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium on Sunday. The match was intense, with both teams adopting a cautious approach throughout the first half. However, the Lions eventually shifted from defense to offense, launching attacks into their opponents’ territory and their efforts eventually paid off in the 50th minute when Aloys Fouda scored the game’s only goal, securing the win for Cameroon.
This result marks the end of the first leg of the final qualification round for both teams. It gives Cameroon a strong advantage ahead of the next edition of CHAN, set to take place in Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania in 2025. Simplice Soh and his squad have returned home to prepare for the decisive second leg, scheduled for December 28 at the Kouekong Omnisports Stadium in Bafoussam, Cameroun.
