The Cameroon Football Federation does not feature in either the top 10 or the top 15 of the best African football federations. This month, the Confederation of African Football published its ranking of the best African federations, which according to our colleagues at L’Attaquant, CAF based its ranking on the performances of Cameroonian clubs in CAF’s continental competitions, including the Champions League and the Confederation Cup. Unfortunately no Cameroonian club are represented in the tournament.

The ranking is dominated by Egypt, followed by Morocco, then Algeria and South Africa in fourth place. Countries such as Sudan, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana and DR Congo each occupy a place in the top 15.

Is Fecafoot falling behind ?

Known as a football powerhouse in Africa for the talent it has produced and still produces for foreign leagues, the Cameroon Football Federation is not in the top 15 of the continent’s best federations. Clearly, the Fécafoot’s situation is worrying. This year, no Cameroonian club secured a spot in the continental competition. Victoria United, champions of Cameroon 2024, and La Colombe Sportive du Nja et Lobo, winners of the national trophy, were disqualified early. Beyond this aspect, other problems haunt the Federation headed by Samuel Eto’o which continues to hinder the progress.
