According to Lebledparle Sport, the Belgian coach received the invitation from the Cameroon Football Federation (Fécafoot). Given the tense atmosphere between Brys and the executive of Fecafoot, speculations arose as to whether Samuel Eto’o might prefer to invite Martin Ndoungou Mpile, the No1 assistant coach, to Marc Brys.

Fecafoot, however, decided it would be a good idea for Marc Brys to attend his first draw ceremony on African soil. This comes after the Indomitable Lions qualification from the fourth round of the tournament? By Momday, the 62-year-old Belgian will know who his opponents will be in the group stages of this 35th edition of the African Cup of Nations. Marc Brys remains focus on his goal since his arrival in April 2024, and is hoping to mark his legacy in African football by winning at least one trophy with the Indomitable Lions.

Marc Brys calm amid controversy

Marc Brys’ results bear speaks volume about his serenity at the helm of the Cameroon national team. Despite the tensions surrounding his appointment by the Minister of Sport, the Belgian has remained focused on his objective: restructuring the Indomitable Lions. The results on the pitch bear witness to this. In eight matches, including two 2026 World Cup qualifiers and six 2025 African Cup of Nations qualifiers, the Belgian has won five and drawn three, maintaining an unbeaten record since his appointment.

What does the future hold for the 2025 African Cup of Nations?

If these results are any indication, Marc Brys could spring a surprise performance in Morocco for the 2026 AFCON. Known as a coach with an unblemished record, Brys has presented a different face since his arrival in Cameroon. The Lions finished top of their AFCON qualifying group and are beginning to develop their own style of play. The Belgian tactician has opted for a 4-3-3 formation, which is bearing fruit. With the detection of young talent and the rise to prominence of players like Carlos Baleba, Bryan Mbeumo, Zambo Anguissa and André Onana, Cameroon are on course to reclaim the trophy that they lost in Egypt in 2019.
