“Atanga Nji sees Kamto and Alice Nkom as major threats to Cameroon’s stability”

This is the opinion of Joseph Emmanuel Ateba. The national communication secretary of the Cameroon Renaissance movement (MRC) reflects on the proceedings of the second biannual Conference of Regional Governors in 2024, held on December 18 and 19 in Yaoundé, under the chairmanship of the minister of territorial administration, Paul Atanga Nji.

In a publication he titled, “When Maurice Kamto gives sleepless nights to Atanga Nji and his mandate holders,” Joseph Emmanuel Ateba claims that “by broadcasting a video of Maurice Kamto announcing the boycott of the 2020 municipal and legislative elections during the 2nd Session of the 2024 Governors Conference, Atanga Nji once again demonstrates that the regime’s security is their only concern and not that of Cameroonians.”

The MRC’s national communication secretary expressed surprise that Maurice Kamto and Lawyer Alice Nkom are perceived as “the main threats to Cameroon’s security.”

Seriously, in what way can the boycott of an election by a political party pose a security problem in a country, especially when the election in question took place four years ago? Instead of addressing issues like child abductions, gangs, Boko Haram attacks, etc., ATANGA found nothing better than to mention Maurice KAMTO and lawyer Alice Nkom as the main threats to Cameroon’s security,” the politician analyzed before concluding stating : “It is evident today that Maurice Kamto is the primary threat to the regime.”
