In a press release, the Court of Arbitration for Sport announced it’s decision from Lausanne on March 07, ordering the Confederation of African Football to reinstate Samuel Eto’o’s name on the list of candidates for the Executive Committee election scheduled for March 12. This ruling confirms his eligibility to contest for a seat in the Executive Committee representing the UNIFFAC zone.
“Orders the Executive Committee of the Confederation of African Football to include Samuel Eto’o Fils on the list of candidates for the election by the Extraordinary General Assembly of 12 March 2025 of the members of the Executive Committee of the Confederation of African Football,” reads the CAS press release.
In addition to readmitting the former Cameroonian footballer to the race, the Court of Arbitration for Sport has ordered CAF to pay Samuel Eto’o and the Cameroon Football Federation a total of CHF 8,000 to cover legal fees. The CAS also annuled the fine of 200,000 dollars imposed on the former Inter Milan striker in June 2024 by the disciplinary panel of the Confederation of African Football.
