Cameroon has been ranked 16th most powerful African military in 2025

According to the Global Firepower 2025 ranking, Cameroon ranks 16th among African military powers and 93rd in the world. This assessment takes into account various criteria such as military strength, equipment, defence budget and logistics.

Cameroon confirms its status as a regional military power by ranking 16th in Africa, according to the latest Global Firepower report. Globally, Paul Biya’s country is ranked 93rd. It comes just behind Tanzania, Tunisia, Mozambique and Chad.

Egypt remains Africa’s leading military power, according to this 2025 edition of the ranking of the world’s most powerful armies, published by the American defence website Global Fire Power (GFP).
