Nanga Charles and Mboutou Ze Jean Bernard, were named through a decree signed by the Head of State titled ” to appoint some members of the Electoral Board of Elections Cameroon (Elecam).”
Before his appointment, Mboutou Ze Jean Bernard served as secretary general of the Supreme State Audit Office. A graduate of ENAM, he is widely recognized for his integrity, a trait believed to have influenced the president’s decision to entrust him with the role of ensuring electoral transparency within Elecam.
Charles Nanga, on the other hand, is a graduate of the École Nationale d’Administration (ENA) in Paris and ENAM in Cameroon. Prior to this role, he worked as Inspector General at the Ministry of Basic Education.
Promoting Transparency?
These appointments, coming just months ahead of the 2025 presidential elections, are expected to enhance Elecam’s credibility, which has faced significant criticism in recent times.
The new members Charles Nanga, an expert in education, and Mboutou Ze Jean Bernard, a specialist in audit and control, are expected to bring their expertise to strengthen transparency in the electoral process.
