On page 5 of this morning’s edition, Le Drapeau reports on the same news. According to it, the Minister of Finance, Louis Paul Motaze, officially launched the State’s budget operations for the 2025 financial year in Buea on 15 January 2025. “With an overall budget of CFAF 7,317.7 billion, this budget aims to accelerate structuring projects, strengthen decentralisation and respond to social and security challenges throughout Cameroon…”.

Le Financier d’Afrique also reports on the launch of the 2025 budget, citing Minfi directives. Cameroon Tribune takes a look at the cocoa and coffee sectors and reports that, in a favourable context, particularly for the cocoa market, the Head of State, Paul Biya, last Tuesday revitalised the dedicated Development Fund. On the occasion of World Braille Day, Coco Bertin, President of the Club des jeunes aveugles habilités du Cameroun, gives a mixed assessment of the inclusion of disabled people in the world of work. While progress has been made, thanks in particular to legislation and increased awareness, many challenges remain, particularly in terms of accessibility and adaptation of workstations. In a statement recently made public, the Cameroon Human Rights Commission (CDHC) deplores the fact that the normative and institutional framework has not evolved to fully guarantee the rights of visually impaired people. It therefore calls on the government to take concrete measures to improve accessibility in transport, education and health. Echos Santé reports on this in today’s edition.

Presidential election 2025: Kamto plays with fire” is the headline in the newspaper Repères. With this headline, it explains that the MRC leader, sensing his imminent defeat, is “flooding the media and social networks with unfounded recriminations about gross manipulation of the electoral roll. Desperate, he clumsily denounced collusion between Elecam and the government in power. In so doing, it is raising the spectre of serious dangers arising from unnecessary electoral crises. This is a highly strategic issue, just a few months away from the elections scheduled for October 2025″.

This concludes the national press review this morning. Thank you for reading and see you tomorrow for another edition.
