Cameroon press review Thursday, April 10, 2025

Good morning dear subscribers of Lebledparle English. We are honoured you see and read us daily, thank you for the trust. Let’s dive into what the newspaper headlines have for us today. Enjoy the read and stay informed always.

Captur revue de presse du jour

The main headline from Cameroun Tribune this morning is on the 2025 Presidential election, as Parliamentarians are called to be apostles of peace. In closing yesterday’s proceedings of the first ordinary session of the current legislative year, Marcel Niat Njifenji, President of the Senate, and Cavaye Yéguié Djibril, President of the National Assembly, called on senators and deputies to work toward a peaceful election in their respective constituencies. Pages 6 to 7 for details.

Still on the presidential race, The National Post headlines Kamto sounding an alarm over CPDM’s underhanded plans to rig. The national president of the Cameroon Renaissance Movement (CRM), Maurice Kamto, accuses President Biya of unfairly appointing a CPDM loyalist to the Constitutional Council. The 2025 presidential hopeful describes the appointment of Senator Monique Ouli Ndongo as a “democratic betrayal” intended to help the CPDM rig the election. Read page 4 to get the full information.

Mutation focuses on Paul Biya’s tweet, which it describes as funny. According to the paper, the Head of State has resumed his habit of posting short messages to the people on social media. This style of communication comes across as inauthentic, sparking reactions that range from amused to indignant among internet users.

Still in politics, La Nouvelle Expression takes us down memory lane to April 10, 1948 when UPC came into existence. The Union of the Populations of Cameroon, which truly initiated the liberation struggles of the Cameroonian people, is now a shadow of its former self, having been fiercely fought by colonial and neocolonial forces. But the founding fathers’ philosophy continues to inspire many freedom-loving Cameroonians, even 75 years later. Find more about the UPC from page 4 to 5.

And we wrap up with Echo Santé that headlines Cameroon’s health facilities hygiene at the heart of a new report. A study conducted in five regions in 2020, and later extended to ten regions in 2022–2023, revealed a significant gap between healthcare needs and available services—especially access to clean water and sanitation facilities. The findings stressed the vital importance of potable water and latrines in preventing water-related diseases and improving public health. Dr. Louis Joss BITANG à MAFOCK, Inspector General of Medical and Paramedical Services, representing the Minister of Public Health, MANAOUDA Malachie, presented the infographic report on hygiene and sanitation in Cameroonian health facilities on April 9, 2025, in Yaoundé.
