This a great news for the Cameroon media community and her family members. On Thursday, March 13, 2025, Lebledparle learned that Cameroonian journalist Dora Eboa has been found in good health in Senegal. Dora Eboa was neither seen nor heard from since 2015 when she seemingly disappeared from the radar. Her family members, fearing for her safety, reported her missing and attempted on multiple occasions to locate her, but their attempts were unsuccessful. It wasn’t until 2024 that they intensified their search with the help of renowned scholar Vincent Sosthène Fouda, who publicized the matter, intensifying the news of her disappearance and leveraging diplomatic avenues to get answers.
Thanks to the intervention of Cameroon’s diplomatic mission in Senegal and through the assistance of Senegal’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dora Eboa was ultimately found, alive and in good health. Showing his appreciation to the public and those involved he posted on his Facebook page, “We extend our gratitude to the Archbishop of Dakar, the Superiors of the Jesuits and Piarists, and the Sisters of Saint Joseph of Cluny, who supported us throughout this search. We can now confirm that Dora Eboa is alive and well. We have spoken to her multiple times on the phone. Thanks to the Annie Payep committee, Dimitri Amba, Alexandre De Fombélé Siewe, David Eboutou, and Françoise Memono Mbarga. Today, we close this case. We are the Continent, and we have never abandoned one of our own,”
Before she went missing, Dora Eboa was a known face in the Cameroonian television industry, serving at Spectrum Television (STV). She thereafter traveled to Senegal to further her career with the BBC in 2015, shortly upon arrival, she completely vanished from the public eye, and no one had an idea where she was.
According to Médiatude, Dora Eboa’s disappearance was not linked to any crime or accident but was a personal choice. The media outlet reports that she deliberately cut ties with her family due to an unresolved private matter. However, the exact reasons behind her decision remain unknown. But with she been found, a long decade of mystery and being in the dark of her whereabouts comes to a close.
