According to the original schedule, the 2025 African Nations Championship is to be held in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania from February 1 to 28 this year. According to information from Lebledparle Sport, the Confederation of African Football (CAF)is grappling with several issues including lack of infrastructure and facilities in the host countries, and the unfinished state of the stadiums chosen to host the tournament. These challenges are reportedly making it hard for the CAF to adhere to the initial date.
In addition to these infrastructure problems, there is a crucial problem concerning the number of teams expected to take part in the competition. It should be noted that this number increased with withdrawal of Egypt, Tunisia and Morocco. Instead of 19 nations for this format, there are only 17 qualified countries. These difficulties are disrupting the organisation of the tournament, despite the fact that the draw has been scheduled for 15 January. According to Africa Football, CAF is considering granting a place to two other nations to fill in the gap. However, Cameroon, eliminated by Central African Republic, is not being considered.
