Cameroon has now reached a new stage in media regulation with the creation of a precise mapping of its media landscape. This document, the result of thorough analysis and data collection, offers a clear and detailed view of all the media operating in the country. It covers various types of media (print, radio, television, online), their geographical distribution, characteristics, and target audiences.
For the CNC, this mapping serves as an essential tool as it will help:
- Streamline the issuance of licenses
- Prevent risks of media saturation
- Promote social responsibility among media outlets
A major advancement for the media sector
The presentation of this map to the Prime Minister marks a key step in the professionalization of Cameroon’s media industry. It highlights the government’s commitment to creating a more transparent and effective regulatory framework.
Joseph Chebonkeng Kalabubsu, President of the CNC, stated that this map is “a vital tool to foster the balanced development of media in Cameroon and ensure a diversity of information.”
