Cameroon woke up to a sad news this Monday January 13, 2025. Originally from the East region, Koulbouth Aman David, who once served as the prefect of the Mifi department, whose administrative capital is Bafoussam reportedly ended his life under unclear circumstances. According to reports, the tragic incident occurred in his bedroom at his residence in the Nkol-Anga district of Yaounde.
Shocking images
The images which have now gone viral on social media, show a man leaning against a wall, his feet stretched out on the ground, lying in his blood. Directly in front of him is a gun, usually called a “double-barrelled shotgun“, lying on the ground with the barrel pointing towards the sole of his left foot. Out of respect of modesty, we will not publish certain graphic images from the scene. These ones reveal one side of the former prefect’s face literally crushed, rendering the victim completely unrecognisable. In what appears to be his bedroom, we can also see traces of blood on the wall, the suitcase and other belongings hanging on the wardrobe.
What happened to this senior civil administrator from Abong-Mbang? While no official statement has yet been made on the subject, the suicide hypothesis is gaining grounds online. Even if the suicide hypothesis is confirmed, it would still be necessary to uncover the reasons that might have driven this former collaborator of Paul Atanga Nji, during his time in the department to take his own life at the start of 2025.
Appointed Prefect of Mifi in Bafoussam in 2021, he previously served as prefect of the Dja and Lobo department in Sangmelina, located in the Southern region.
