While the Eric Parfait Djomeni and Valentine Nkwain affair, president of Victoria United, continue to dominate the Cameroonian football headlines, various information are emerging. Yesterday, 26 February 2025, journalist Charles Douglas Ndemba reported that an amicable settlement had been reached in a tripartite meeting in Limbé. However, Djomeni’s legal counsel has categorically denied this information. In a statement dated 27 February, Maître Djemeni Parfait, the player’s lawyers dismissed the claim as a “manipulation of public opinion”.
“We hereby wish to formally deny any such comments, which have only one aim: to further undermine the rights of the victim, Mr Djomeni Parfait Eric, and which are probably intended to cover up this scurrilous affair in which the issue of physical integrity and human dignity, in its most trivial sense, is being undermined“, the statement reads.
Djemeni Yannick further clarified that the legal proceedings, against Valentine Nkwain and Victoria United are currently ongoing with no possible settlement. “We wish to inform national and international opinion that legal proceedings have been initiated against Valentin Nkwain and the club he chairs, Victoria United. The said proceedings are following their normal course and we are delighted with the high importance that the authorities of our country are giving to this case”.
The statement issued by the Djomeni’s legal team, following allegations that he was arrested, tortured and confined by Victoria United, has reopened the debate as to what really transpired the club and its goalkeeper. According to sources close to Lebledparle Sport, the goalkeeper is accused of fixing matches for personal gain, an accusation that remains proven.
