The State has just honoured its commitment to the clubs competing in Elite One and Elite Two this season. At the request of the president of the Cameroon Football Federation (Fecafoot), made before the start of the season, the state has released FCFA 560 million allocated for the payment of players’ salaries for the 65th edition of the Cameroon first division championship. This amount has been made available to the Cameroon Football Federation’s accounting officer, who is attached to the Ministry of Finance.
Procedure to be followed
According to Mandong Isaac Noé’s press release, the Cameroon National Football Association (ANFC) is required collect a certain number of documents from clubs to ensure the payment of quotas. These documents are as follows
– Verification of the number of professional players in the clubs;
– Collection of proof of payment of players’ salaries;
– Transmission of the relevant reports and supporting documents to the Cameroon Football Federation as soon as possible, so that the subsidies can be made available to the clubs concerned.
Distribution of funds
According to the press release issued by the Ministry of Sports and Physical Education signed on Tuesday, the allocated amount to be paid equitably to the clubs will be calculated and determined by the Minfi Accounting Agent at Fecafoot, with a share of 2/3 reserved for those in Elite One and 1/3 for those in Elite Two.
It should be noted that the chairmen of the Elite clubs had approached Minister Mouelle Kombi to demand that this subsidy no longer be managed by Fecafoot. This could lead to another conflict of power between Fecafoot and Minsep.
