Are the streets no longer safe for people most especially women? No longer are these acts committed on the streets but it is taken to your home that is meant to be ones sanctuary. A woman has been sent to the after life against her will in a recent femicide case. According to Griote TV, her body was found tied up, with a slit throat. Based on sources close to the deceased, she took part in a ceremony yesterday, Sunday, March 02, before leaving around 6 p.m, the last they heard from her. The lady’s husband was absent at the time, as he had traveled to Doukoula, in the Far North region, to attend a family member’s funeral. He was informed of his wife’s sudden death this morning.
The motive behind her killing by unidentified people remains unknown but authorities have launched an investigation to track the perpetrators of this horrendous act.
This brutal murder adds to the growing number of femicide cases recorded since the beginning of 2025 in the country. The alarming rise in such crimes raises serious concerns about the increasing violence against women in Cameroon.
As we celebrate this traditional month of March dedicated to celebrating women’s rights and achievements, the alarming surge in femicides across the country calls for deeper reflection. Women in positions of power and influence must go beyond the symbolic speeches and take concrete action to address this crisis. It is equally a time for authorities to strengthen measures that protect women and strictly enforce laws against gender-based violence.
Women have to go beyond fancy celebrations, and strive to work on urgent action that is needed to ensure that International Women’s Day is true catalyst for real change.
