Fire Ravages Shops in Bonakouamouang-Akwa

A devastating fire broke out in the early hours of Thursday, March 27, in the Bonakouamouang area of Akwa, causing significant material damage.

CD wwAccording to reports, the fire started around 3 a.m. near the Ola fuel station and quickly consumed a shop before spreading to nearby buildings. Several boutiques were burned, and a restaurant was completely destroyed. While the exact cause of the fire remains unknown, Griote TV reports that residents suspect an electric pole, which was also consumed by the flames, may have triggered the disaster.

Firefighters were alerted and promptly arrived at the scene, working tirelessly to contain the fire and prevent further damage. However, despite their efforts, some business owners suffered heavy losses.

As investigations continue to locate the exact cause of the incident, affected traders are left in distress, especially in an already challenging economic climate. Fire outbreaks is seemingly on the rise, early last month it was a fire incident at the Ndogpassi market that ravaged several shops and today another one has occurred revealing it might be as a result of the electric pole and we all know how connections on the electric poles in Douala is done and the severe damage it has caused

If the investigation is done and it reveals it’s the electric pole then it should be a wake up to avoid bad connections to prevent such incidents from occuring in the future
