The entertainment industry mourns the loss of one it’s most respected actors Gene Hackman who was found dead with his wife in their residence in New Mexico. Hackman was and award winning actor whose role in “French Connection” and “Unforgiven” made him win the Oscar awards.
According to the Independence, authorities arrived at the couple’s residence on Sunset Trail on Wednesday afternoon and found their bodies in separate rooms. Hackman was discovered lying in the mudroom near the kitchen, while his wife was found in the bathroom. A prescription bottle was also found open on the bathroom counter, with pills scattered nearby. The couple’s deceased dog was found in another part of the house.
Based on a police search warrant, the couple seem to have been “dead for a while”. A preliminary autopsy results reveal there is no external trauma on their bodies, and first responding officers to the scene stated there was no sign of forced entry, also all their properties are accounted for, ruling out every sign of foul play. There were early speculations from one of his children who revealed they might have died of carbon monoxide poisoning, but police have equally ruled it out after finding no evidence of a gas leak.
Another shocking revelation, was Hackman’s wife, Betsy Arakawa, who showed signs of decomposition, indicating the couple had been deceased for an extended period before being discovered. This detail has led authorities to further scrutinize the circumstances surrounding their deaths.
Recent update on the affair is that detectives are working to establish a timeline of the couple’s final days, reviewing CCTV footage in the area and analyzing phone records to determine who they may have last spoken to. However, it is reported that their private lifestyle makes it challenging to piece together their last known movements.
