Alice Nkom, who serves as President of the Board of Directors of the Central Africa Human Rights Defenders Network (REDHAC), finally appeared in court alongside REDHAC’s Executive Director, Maximilienne Ngo Mbe after a court convocation of March 22, 2025, related to the breaking of administrative seals placed on REDHAC’s Douala office.

Before attending today’s summon, she made a call on social media calling on people to support her in the fight against human rights trampling and she received the solidarity as the court session was attended by a team of legal experts, including presidential candidate Barrister Akere Muna. According to one of her lawyers, Me Fabien Kegne, the case was postponed to allow for further deliberations.

Recall that her legal troubles began in December 2024, when Cameroon’s Minister of Territorial Administration, Paul Atanga Nji, suspended REDHAC and other NGO organisation for alleged non compliance with regulations. Denouncing the suspension as illegal and a violation of the law, Alice Nkom broke the seal publicly, a move that has since then triggered a series of administrative and judicial summonses which she didn’t attend till today April 7, 2025.

With the case now adjourned to June 2, 2025, many have put out posts of solidarity to Lawyer Alice Nkom as they await the outcome of the June 2 court ruling.
