Mathias Amougou, a Franco-Cameroonian central midfielder, is leaving Saint-Etienne for Chelsea in England. According to Lebledparle Sport, his transfer was made official on 05 January 2025. The native of Blanc-Mesnil in France contract runs up to 2033. Sources indicate that while he has committed to Chelsea, he is set to spend next season on loan at Strasbourg to continue his development.
The Cameroon midfielder reacting to his transfer expressed his excitement “I’m very happy. It’s an honour for me to sign for such a great club like Chelsea. They believe in young players and the process they have in place to develop you is fantastic.”
Mathis Amougou joined the Greens last season and played a part in Saint-Etienne’s promotion to the French top flight this season. Before his departure this winter, he had already established himself as a regular in the team. This is a new adventure for the youngster, and Marc Brys should keep a close eye on him as he seeks to strengthen the Indomitable Lions’ midfield.
