MINAT leads an operation to destroy huge quantity of fake drugs

The minister of territorial administration and team have proceeded to the destruction of counterfeit drugs and marijuana valued at 850 million FCFA in Bafoussam 2.

The government’s fight against drug trafficking in the country is very much active with a recent operation led by Minister of territorial administration Paul Atanga Nji that saw the burning of huge stocks of marijuana and counterfeit medications worth 850 million FCFA in Bafoussam 2, West Region on an Hysacam site. According to reports, Paul Atanga Nji made it clear that the head of state has instructed that every seized stocks should be completely destroyed to avoid redistribution and preserve the security of the nation as such products pose as serious health and security issues.

The fake medications worth 360 million FCFA is reported to be among the most common medications sought after for treating common ailments, while the marijuana, valued at 500 million FCFA, is a danger to the environment due to the abuse of consumption by youths and children.

At the end of the operation Minister Paul Atanga Nji applauded the national gendarmerie and the Cameroonian customs for their commitment to fighting drug trafficking that continues to be on the rise, endangering the health of many.
