Through its National Brigade for the Fight Against Petroleum Product Fraud (BNLFPP), the ministry has been carrying out operations in Yaounde and the suburbs, leading to massive seizures of fuel. According to MINEE, a recent Emergency Special Operation (OPU) was held between February 26 and February 28, 2025, in collaboration with law enforcement authorities (FMO). The operation targeted different locations known for fuel smuggling, like Olembé, the toll station at Nsimalen, Laverie Touristique, Nomayos, Tsinga Village, and Awae. At the end of the mission, a total of 2,310 liters of all types of fuel was seized.
MINEE inspectors also conducted inspections at gas stations throughout the city to impose compliance. One major violation was observed at Ola Station in Émana, where a pump attendant was seen filling two large 1,000-liter containers, which was an act in violation of Circular No. 00001199/2023/MINEE/SG/DPPG/SDTD/SG dated March 21, 2023, which categorically prohibits the sale of petroleum products in containers exceeding 100 liters. The authorities seized the fuel immediately upon observing the violation.
Despite a reported decline in mass fuel seizures over the last few months, the BNLFPP continues to mount pressure on illicit fuel traders by increasing its field operations. The ministry has affirmed its dedication to preventing petroleum product fraud and ensuring that the distribution of fuel is according to legal standards.
This operation aims to reinforce the government’s determination to control the fuel market and eliminate illegal operations that can threaten public safety and the economy.
