Gazelle FA of Garoua are provisionally at the top of the Elite One ranking after beating Victoria United 3-1 on Sunday at the Roumdé Adjia annex in Garoua. Gazelle continued their progress with their sixth win of the season. The team from the north dethroned Colombe du Dja et Lobo, who had been unbeaten since the start of the 35th edition of Cameroon’s professional championship. Colombe du Sud fell to Canon Yaoundé 0-1 at the Stade annexe d’Ahmadou Ahidjo on Sunday.
This was a major blow for Richard Towa and his men, who temporarily lost the lead and dropped to second place, level on 20 points with rivals Gazelle FA. While Gazelle FA, Canon Yaoundé and Panthère du Ndé are making progress, the situation isn’t favorable for Bamboutos de Mbouda, Yong Sport Academy and Union de Douala, who are condemned to the red zone and risk relegation to Elite Two if their fortunes do not improve.
