It was Victoria United’s second defeat in a row, following their loss to Gazelle FA on Matchday 9. Opopo endured a tough 3-0 loss to Coton Sport of Garoua on Matchday 10 of the MTN Elite One. Despite aiming to make the most of their trip to the northern region, Victoria United met a tactical and organized Coton Sport team. Under the guidance of Minkreo Birwe, Coton Sport dominated the match leaving Opopo struggling.

Despite a good start, Nathan Douala and his team-mates struggled to capitalise their chances. David Ngambe’s men failed to do justice on their attacking moves, while Coton Sport de Garoua, were just waiting for a small opening to strike. The breakthrough came in the 40th minute when Captain Félix Oukiné gave the home side a 1-0 lead before John Bosco added another in the 45th minute (2-0). Victoria United, overwhelmed by the home side’s dominance, cracked in second-half stoppage time, allowing Djonkep to score the third (3-0) commanding victory.
