The inhabitants of Sikoum can now breathe a relief of fresh air and vacate to their occupations without fear as they those behind the gruesome murders of commercial bike riders, whose bodies were found in a state of decomposition earlier this year have been arrested. According to Fon Rene Marquez, the suspected individuals range from 31 to 42 years and were paraded before the media on March 11, at the Judicial police headquarters in Bonanjo, Douala. Following their presentation, the suspects were transported to Sikoum, where they led the judicial police officers to the different sites within the bushes, where they reenacted their crimes, providing a detailed account of their operation.
Based on the revelation of the gang leader who confessed on their modus operandi, they would lure their victims by offering attractive transport fare from Douala to Sikoum, but upon arrival they would overpower their victims then drag them into the dense bush, hit them so they won’t shout, tie them up using rubber, rob them of their valuables, and then flee with their motorbikes.
Villagers expressed their relief as the killings instilled fear in the women mostly who were afraid of the going to farm. With the culprits in police custody, Sikoum residents have been called to utmost vigilance and have also implemented a system of identification to new tenants mostly so as to avoid harboring criminals.
