Nigeria qualifies for CHAN after six-year absence

After six years away from the African Nations Championship (CHAN), Nigeria has made a triumphant return, securing their spot in the 2025 tournament with a commanding 3-1 victory over Ghana’s Black Galaxies on Saturday.

Super Eagles B

The Super Eagles B team delivered an electrifying performance at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, scoring all three goals in the first half of the second-leg encounter. This victory guarantees their participation in the CHAN, set to take place in Tanzania, Kenya, and Uganda from February 1 to 28, 2025.

Following a goalless draw in the first leg in Accra, Ghana, both teams entered the decisive second leg with high stakes. However, Nigeria quickly took control of the match. Ismail Sodiq opened the scoring, followed by a strike from Nduka Junior, and a third goal by Saviour Isaac.

Coach Daniel Ogunmodede and his team have given Nigerian football fans a reason to celebrate after years of disappointment. However, with the tournament fast approaching, they will need to fine-tune their strategies to ensure a strong showing in February.

The Super Eagles B team’s return to CHAN 2025 marks a significant achievement and offers hope for a brighter future in Nigerian football.
