He was competing againsy Ghanaian boxer Jon Mbanugu at Fight Night 15 of the Ghana Professional Boxing League at Bukom Boxing Arena. Medical doctors attended to him right away but despite their efforts, he was soon confirmed dead. The exact reason for his death has yet to be officially determined, though early speculations quote possible internal injuries or an underlying medical condition.
Gabriel Oluwasegun Olanrewaju, who was famous for his powerful punches and resilience in the ring, had established himself as a formidable opponent in the boxing world. His zeal and dedication to the sport earned him the name “success”. He was a professional light heavyweight boxer, whose height was 1.85 m, and fought with an orthodox stance. He fought 23 bouts in his career, winning 13 (12 by KO), losing 8, and drawing 2.
