The announcement, signed by Pr. Souley Mane, CNCL representative, is a relief to millions of Muslims across the country who have been waiting eagerly for the start of this sacred period. Ramadan, observed by Muslims worldwide, is a time of fasting, prayer, and deep spiritual reflection, symbolizing self-discipline and devotion to Allah.
In the press release, the CNCL, invited the believers to intensify their prayers and acts of worship throughout the month. The commission emphasized the call for unity, peace, and prosperity and urged them to use this moment to strengthen their faith and be of good impact to society.
Ramadan is the ninth month on the Islamic calendar and the most sacred of months for Muslims. During Ramadan, the faithful do not eat, drink, or undertake any worldly needs from morning till evening as a spiritual discipline. Breaking the fast is undertaken in the evening by Iftar, a meal usually shared with friends and relatives. Other than fasting, Ramadan is also a time of charity (Zakat), increased prayer, and recitation of the Quran. The majority of Muslims use this time to seek forgiveness, introspect about themselves, and recommit themselves to righteousness.
As Muslims in Cameroon embark on this faith journey, Ramadan 2025 provides them with an opportunity for renewal, empathy, and communal introspection. In praying for the future to improve, religious believers will navigate the next month in the hope of obtaining the favors of their gods and their faith, their loved ones, and society.
