At 44, the President of the Cameroon Football Federation (Fecafoot), has secured a seat in CAF’s Executive Committee following his election at the General Assembly of the Confederation of African Football held on March 12, 2025 in Egypt. With this achievement, Eto’o becomes the second African footballer to represent the UNIFFAC zone in CAF’s governing body, fulfilling a long held dream of his. Recognised as the best African player of the 21st century, his election marks a huge milestone in African football leadership.
As previously reported by Lebledparle Sport, Samuel Eto’o was the sole candidate representing the Union of Central African Football Associations zone. He was elected by acclamation during CAF’s 14th General Assembly held on March 12, in Egypt. The four-time African Ballon d’Or winner succeeds his compatriot Saidou Mbombo Njoya. Eto’o now takes on a role in African’s football’s highest decision making body. A great height for one who was initially disqualified but later cleared by the Court of Sports Arbitration.
