Samuel Eto’o was among the distinguished personalities who had the honor of meeting with the President of the Republic on Friday, January 10, 2025, during the New Year’s greetings ceremony at the Unity Palace in Yaoundé. Once again, Samuel Eto’o was honored by the highest levels of the State for his participation in this ceremony, which serves as the traditional presentation of New Year’s greetings to Cameroon’s key figures. Representing the body he leads since December 2021, Samuel Eto’o presented the greetings on behalf of the national football community and equally as spokesman of the Indomitable Lions.
The colourful ceremony was attended by members of the diplomatic corps accredited to Cameroon, government bodies and civil society. This is not the first time that the Indomitable Lions’ all-time top scorer (56 goals) has been invited to the Unity Palace for such occasions. Apart from the sporting aspect, Samuel Eto’o’s attachment to the political ideals of President Paul Biya is well known. Infact, during his recent appearance on RFI, he reaffirmed his steadfast support for the current regime. Eto’o attended the ceremony first and foremost as President of Fecafoot and a fellow member of the ruling party.
