According to our colleagues at Allez Les Lions, Samuel Eto’o will be attending the Cameroon-Libya match scheduled for 25 March at the Stade Ahmadou Ahidjo in Yaounde. It will be his first match after being banned by FIFA for six months from all matches involving Cameroon’s men’s and women’s national football teams. After an absence of 6 months from the stands of the Indomitable Lions in all categories, Eto’o will be present in the duel between the Knights of the Mediterranean and the Indomitable Lions on Matchday 6 of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, as confirmed by Allez Les Lions on 22 March 2025.
Samuel Eto’o was sanctioned by the FIFA Ethics Committee for breaching articles 13 (Offensive behaviour and violation of the principles of fair play) and 14 (Misconduct of players and officials) of the FIFA Disciplinary Code. This sanction followed a challenge by the President of the Cameroon Football Federation to the referee of the Brazil-Cameroon match in Bogotá during the Round of 16 of the U-20 Women’s World Cup.
Nineteen days after the match that saw Cameroon eliminated from the competition, FIFA signed a statement banning Samuel Eto’o from the stands for a period of six months. After serving his sentence, the Fecafoot boss will attend the Cameroon-Libya duel at the Stade Ahmadou Ahidjo on the 25th of this month.
