Signé Naha, a sports columnist who usually presents himself as a defender of Samuel Eto’o, has just given the reasons why Seidou Mbombo Njoya’s candidacy for another term on the executive committee of the Confederation of African Football is impossible. On his Facebook page, the sports columnist clearly explains the reasons why the former president of Fecafoot and already a member of CAF’s executive committee will be ineligible. His analysis on the affair is based on article 18, paragraph 2.C as well as article 22 paragraph 8a and 8b. At the end of his analysis, Naha acknowledged that Seidou could be a candidate, but to do so he would have to become a “WOMAN” in order to benefit from Article 22.
Below is the analysis of Signé Naha reported by Lebledparle Sport
«HERE IS WHY SEIDOU MBOMBO NJOYA WILL NEVER BE A CANDIDATE FOR THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE OF CAF
For weeks the public opinion has been misled by malicious individuals engaging in influence peddling, attempting to create the impression that Seidou MBOMBO NJOYA could run as candidate under the pretext of his re eligibility.
Let it be clear from this point forward, according to Article 18, Paragraph 2.C of the CAF statutes: no national association that is a CAF member may propose or support more than one candidate. This does not apply to the recent case, as the individual in question did not receive any endorsement from FECAFOOT.
According to article 18 it is stated that :
The names of candidates for the CAF Executive Committee and FIFA Counicil must be submitted by their national association to the General Secretariat of CAF at least four (4) months before the election date. All outgoing members are eligible for re-election in accordance with the provisions of article 22 paragraphs 8a and 8b of these statutes.
According to article 22: Each national association may have only one elected member in the Executive Committee, unless the said member is the female representative elected under Category 4 in accordance with the present statutes, in which case the maximum of two representatives of the same national association is allowed.
Seidou MBOMBO can only be a member of the executive committee alongside Samuel Eto’o, if he becomes a WOMAN.
