Cameroon earned respect on home soil, but showed little mercy to their opponents. A 9-0 victory is not a friendly scoreline, nor a gesture of good neighbourly relationship. However, in sports, fair play and hospitality are essential. Alioum Saidou’s squad focused on securing their place at the CAN U17, is determined to sweep aside all obstacles and finish among the top two in the UNIFFAC tournament, which kicked off in Douala on Sunday. In their first match, they made a strong statement by trashing the Central African Republic 9-0.
The Lions came out on top with an impressive performance. Franck Mafany Luma stole the show scoring a hat-trick, while Njanja Kolly and Noël Doumbogo scored twice. Guy Yimga and Oscar Etoundiet also added their names to the scoresheet scoring one goal each. With this dominant win, Lions are well in track for the U17 AFCON qualification, with the final two games against the Democratic Republic of Congo and Gabon respectively.
