A$AP Rocky, born Rakim Meyers was on trial, for facing allegations of firing a gun at former friend Terell Ephron, known as A$AP Relli, during a 2021 altercation. Prosecutors had offered him a plea deal with 180 days in jail, which he rejected.
According to the Associated Press, as the verdict was read on Tuesday, Rocky filled with emotion, rushed into the gallery to embrace his girlfriend and mother of their two kids, Rihanna. He equally expressed gratitude to the jury for saving his life. A guilty verdict would have had him sentenced to 24 years in prison.
Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman acknowledged the decision, stating, “While today’s verdict is not the outcome we sought, we respect the jury’s decision and the integrity of our justice system.”
The trial, which began on January 24, has finally come to an end, bringing relief to the rapper and his family, who can now be at peace and rest from the worries surrounding the case.
